Metrics and Targets

As a result of our scenario analyses, we recognize the importance of contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society by controlling greenhouse gas emissions through the water treatment systems that we are handling, and some of the response measures have been incorporated into the sales strategy in our company’s Medium-term Management Plan (HiPES – 2023). Specifically, we will work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by developing energy-saving technology for ultrapure water production systems while proactively proposing and increasing sales of the production system of water for injection that employs the UF membrane method, which is an environmentally friendly alternative to systems using the distillation method.

In addition, we intend to create new environmentally friendly products and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by actively investing in the development of low-carbon products, technologies contributing to low-carbon emissions, etc.

Target
Scope3
Category11
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ultrapure water production systems and production systems of water for injection to be newly delivered by 15% by FY2030 compared to FY2019

Other than the above target, as part of our “efforts for environmental issues” —a materiality set forth in the Basic Sustainability Policy—we will also work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 through various measures such as promoting modal shift (from truck and domestic coastal vessel transportation to railroad transportation), production and use of renewable energy (installation of solar panels, etc.), and conversion of company vehicles from gasoline-powered cars to ecological cars (EVs, HVs, etc.).
