Nuclepore membrane

A uniformed cylindrical straight pores are created by radiating neutron on thin film made of polycarbonate.
By etching this, it becomes a clean membrane filter with uniformed pore size. It is widely used for microscopic observation of samples, biochemical examinations, and environmental measurements.

Direct Microscopic Count

The direct microscopic count can quantitatively measure fine particles of 0.2 microns or larger by filtration of a sample with a Nuclepore membrane, staining of fine particles trapped on the membrane, observation and counting of particles with an optical microscope.
This measurement method is widely used by various companies as a method for measuring fine particles in ultrapure water used in the semiconductor industry, and is also adopted in JISK0554-1995.
